Santa Ynez has some of the best wineries and horse farms on the central coast. The Santa Ynez Valley AVA is an official AVA of Santa Barbara County as is Happy Canyon. The town was a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop and has an informative museum of SYV local history and heritage. The valley was and still is the home of the Chumash tribe of Native Americans who have a thriving casino next to town. Swanky shops, as well as cafes, mingle with country-western grit and charm.
